Oh, Baby! Maternity sessions: you won't regret it!

Debating a maternity session? I get it.

I have not three but FIVE chickadees. That's 45 month pregnant. 200 weeks of being pregnant. And while I love my chickadees, being pregnant wasn't super glamourous. Even early on, the tight waist band of my regular jeans would irritate me. After 36 weeks, I felt hug and awkward and was ready to be done.

I took some mirror selfies of my growing bump with my first. I don't think I have any of my second. By my third I finally got my stuff together a little bit and had a nice camera and tripod. I threw up a black sheet for a background and got a couple good shots.

But by my fourth, which I was convinced would be my last, I decided to hire an amazing photographer who was running a mini session special. But I waited too long. I was 38 weeks and just felt huge. Posing was uncomfortable and I hadn't put much thought into how my dress and body would look. The images were taken with amazing talent, but I didn't like how I looked in them.

It wasn't until my fifth and DEFINITELY last baby that I realized what a special time pregnancy was. I planned early. I decided I would be most comfortable around 34-35 weeks. I scheduled my photographer months out. We scouted out locations in Memphis, and I obsesses over alllllllll the maternity dresses until I found the perfect one. My hair and make up were on point. My baby bump was big, but I still felt graceful enough to pose that early on.

I am so in love with the images we captured at that session. I have them framed and will cherish them forever.

Looking back, I wish I had 5 beautiful maternity images on my wall to represent each of my 5 miracle pregnancies.

Pregnancy and motherhood are the most special thing to me. I wish I had taken more pictures. I wish I had invested in great photographers, great dresses, great hair and make up.

So if you're on the fence, I get it. I was too.

If you're expecting in the Mid-South in 2023, I encourage you to find a photographer (even if t's not me!) and get some maternity photos done. Whether you have one baby or five, each pregnancy is a miracle and deserves to be documented!

Of you are looking for a Bartlett maternity photographer, look no further!
