Do you need an engagement session?

Thinking about investing in an engagement session?

When he goes down on one knee and pops the question, it's time to start thinking about a wedding photographer!

But another thing to consider is getting engagement photos done even before you've sent out invites to the big day.

Why invest in an engagement session? There are a lot of good reasons. This may be the first time you are getting professional photos with your fiancé. Having professional photos before the wedding gives you a lot of options before, during, and after the wedding.

Many couples choose to use an engagement photos for their "save the date" or invitation as a way to personalize and get guests excited about the big day.

The session itself captures the excitement of a new engagement. An engagement session can capture pure emotion in a setting that is calm and quiet (you may not get much of that on your wedding day!) and personalized to you.

It's a great option to get professional photos of you and your love looking nice, but not decked out in a suit and gown. These more casual portraits can stand the test of time on a mantel or shelf till death do you part!

In addition to using these for "save the date" and invitations, you can also get them printed out to display at your wedding or reception. They can even be used in your wedding program, if you choose to have one.

I love shooting weddings, but it's generally a busy day for everyone involved. I do my best to carve out 15-30 minutes for a quick session with the bride and groom alone so they can spend a few minutes in relative quiet while I shoot. I've been told by more than a few that this mini session in the middle of the busy day is one of the few times they get to slow down and take in their newly formed partnership as husband and wife. But inevitably there will be some interruptions as guests and vendors are all vying for the couple's attention.

And engagement session is an opportunity to express your love in photographs you will cherish for a lifetime in an environment that can be intimate and calm.
